1. Download RivaTuner if you have an nVidia card or ATITool if you have a ATi card
2. Install them (obviously)
3. Open up any temperature monitoring programs (if you have any) to monitor temperatures of your GPU/Overall
4. FOR ATI: Launch ATITool you should see two sliders, one is labeled Core and one is labeled Memory. Slide the sliders up at 5mhz increments for Core and 10-20 mhz increments for Memory. I suggest moving up the Core 15mhz and the Memory 40mhz for now. Click the SCAN FOR ARTIFACTS button and let it run for about 10 minutes and see if there are any artifacts (AKA anomalies AKA things that are not normal) If there aren’t, keep going at 5mhz and 15mhz increments and scanning for artifacts. If there are artifacts already, your cooling/power supply unit/video card sucks and you need to reset the speeds back to default
5. For nVidia cards, launch Rivatuner and start increasing the clock speeds. At every 20mhz or so test for artifacts by launching a game and then playing it for some time or something similar.
6. ONCE YOU SEE ARTIFACTS, put your clocks down 10mhz or so and that’s probably your limit. For now.

A bunch of applications that are in my favorites list. (Most, but not all, are free)

1. Foobar200: Music player, better than Winamp, iTunes, or Windows Media Player. Is customizable
2. Firefox: If you don’t have this already, stop reading and go kill yourself for being retarded
3. Opera: Another web browser, faster than Firefox and can actually PASS the Acid2 test, but is less customizable
4. Spybot Search & Destroy: A free anti-spyware application.
5. NOD32: Only the best anti-virus around. Better than the Norton piece of shit. (30 day trial)
6. Nero Premium 7: I generally use this to burn data. Contains a lot of features.
7. ImgBurn: I use this to burn virtual images files such as .iso, .bin/.cue, .mdf/.mds, etc etc etc
8. Alcohol 120%: I use this in case ImgBurn fails
9. Xfire: An in game chatting tool
10. Daemon Tools: Used to mount virtual images
11. PCMark05: Free tool used to benchmark your PC
12. CCleaner: Used to clean up stuff in your harddrive
13. AdAware: Anti-adware program. The best.
14. VLC Media Player: The best media player around
15. Media Player Classic: The second best media player around. Although I use this if the file type is supported. Much more friendlier interface.
16. ATI Tool: Overclocking your graphics card means faster performance, at a risk.
17. FRAPs: In-game video recording
18. Google Earth: I like spying on North Korea…
19. Audacity: Audio recording software
20. Songbird: Another music player. Same interface as iTunes, but built on Mozilla engine. Which means customization
21. PowerStrip: Useful program for advanced PC users.
22. GDisk: A DOS Command Line utility. For use when your Windows gets fucked up.
