Believe it or not, Morrowind, a 5 year old game, looks great at 16xAF and 6xAA. Here is what my game looks like:

So I had like 10 Annihilator Tripods, and 10 Devastator Warships and just steamrolled over his base. He had like nil defense structures and all his troops was busy attacking my second-not-important-bait-base. His mammoth tanks were no use because he didn’t even upgrade them ^^

How to: Overclock your video card [UPDATED] March 28, 2007

Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any damage done. By reading onward you accept this and cannot take any action against me for any damage or whatever else done.

  1. Download RivaTuner if you have an nVidia card or ATITool if you have a ATi card
  2. Install them (obviously)
  3. Open up any temperature monitoring programs (if you have any) to monitor temperatures of your GPU/Overall
  4. FOR ATI: Launch ATITool you should see two sliders, one is labeled Core and one is labeled Memory. Slide the sliders up at 5mhz increments for Core and 10-20 mhz increments for Memory. I suggest moving up the Core 15mhz and the Memory 40mhz for now. Click the SCAN FOR ARTIFACTS button and let it run for about 10 minutes and see if there are any artifacts (AKA anomalies AKA things that are not normal) If there aren’t, keep going at 5mhz and 15mhz increments and scanning for artifacts. If there are artifacts already, your cooling/power supply unit/video card sucks and you need to reset the speeds back to default
  5. For nVidia cards, launch Rivatuner and start increasing the clock speeds. At every 20mhz or so test for artifacts by launching a game and then playing it for some time or something similar.
  6. ONCE YOU SEE ARTIFACTS, put your clocks down 10mhz or so and that’s probably your limit. For now.

A bunch of applications that are in my favorites list. (Most, but not all, are free)

  1. Foobar200: Music player, better than Winamp, iTunes, or Windows Media Player. Is customizable
  2. Firefox: If you don’t have this already, stop reading and go kill yourself for being retarded
  3. Opera: Another web browser, faster than Firefox and can actually PASS the Acid2 test, but is less customizable
  4. Spybot Search & Destroy: A free anti-spyware application.
  5. NOD32: Only the best anti-virus around. Better than the Norton piece of shit. (30 day trial)
  6. Nero Premium 7: I generally use this to burn data. Contains a lot of features.
  7. ImgBurn: I use this to burn virtual images files such as .iso, .bin/.cue, .mdf/.mds, etc etc etc
  8. Alcohol 120%: I use this in case ImgBurn fails
  9. Xfire: An in game chatting tool
  10. Daemon Tools: Used to mount virtual images
  11. PCMark05: Free tool used to benchmark your PC
  12. CCleaner: Used to clean up stuff in your harddrive
  13. AdAware: Anti-adware program. The best.
  14. VLC Media Player: The best media player around
  15. Media Player Classic: The second best media player around. Although I use this if the file type is supported. Much more friendlier interface.
  16. ATI Tool: Overclocking your graphics card means faster performance, at a risk.
  17. FRAPs: In-game video recording
  18. Google Earth: I like spying on North Korea…
  19. Audacity: Audio recording software
  20. Songbird: Another music player. Same interface as iTunes, but built on Mozilla engine. Which means customization
  21. PowerStrip: Useful program for advanced PC users.
  22. GDisk: A DOS Command Line utility. For use when your Windows gets fucked up.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WRITTEN PAPERS LONGER (Tested and it works):

This has been tested by me personally and I can tell you that IT WORKS. Here’s what you do:

  1. Open up Microsoft Word and open a document of your choosing
  2. Click EDIT >>> FIND or just press CTRL + F
  3. Click the REPLACE tab at the top
  4. Type in a “.” without the quotes for both “Replace with” and “Find what”
  5. Click “More” down at the bottom
  6. Highlight the “.” in the “Replace with” box and click “Format >>> Font” down at the bottom
  7. In the “Size” box on the right, type in “13″ and click OK
  8. Now click “Replace all” and your paper should now be longer =)
  9. This should work with any punctuation marks, but they’re more noticeable than the period.

Review of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (8.25/10) March 27, 2007

Missing some features and buggy, but otherwise good.

Graphics: 8.5/10

GSC does a very good job with Stalker’s graphics, that’s both technically and physically speaking. The lighting effects are superb, as you’ll definitely notice in the underground parts of the game, but what Stalker really does away with is the atmosphere. You’ll notice it almost immediately as you walk out of the tiny underground place you start in, to your starting…village should I say? However, some of the things GSC could have improved on is the overall look of the textures and models. The textures on your guns really could have been done better, as they really do suck. The terrain texture also could have been done a little better, but nothing to really take away the visual experience. The game also scales very well, meaning you could have a low-end system and still be able to play the game without much hitches or framerate issues, this is of course assuming you put on static lighting and turn off dynamic lighting, which is a big cause for low framerate on lower-end machines. 8.5/10

Sound: 8/10

The sound adds a lot to the game. For example, during the night, when you’re walking through a particularly unfamiliar part of “The Zone” you might hear something howl, chilling you to the bones, as you quickly draw your gun and take a look around to what might be around you at this moment. The voice acting is well done, well…when you actually hear voice acting that is. Most of the dialog you’ll see in this game aren’t voice acted, and you’re stuck with reading the text. The translation also could have been a little better, as many times the voice and the dialog you see in the dialog screen don’t match, and sometimes when they’re speaking Russian you don’t even know what they’re saying because there’s no subtitles. I mean I know this is a game made in a Russian speaking country, but your main audience, which makes up for over half of your sales, DOES NOT SPEAK RUSSIAN!

Gameplay: 9/10

Excellent gameplay. The Zone is there for you to explore, as there are plenty of goodies for you to uncover, provided you can get the protection to survive the radiation, the anomalies, and all the enemies in there. However, even though this is a free-roam game, the Zone is not as “open” as you think. If you open up your PDA at the beginning of the game you’ll probably go “Wow what a big game world” but as you continue the game you’ll realize that you can only visit about 40-60% of the game world, all of which are different “levels” and you have to load each separately, unlike Oblivion where there is virtually no loading times between the vast landscapes (Excluding cities) Also, you might be blocked off to several parts of the game early on because you probably haven’t done certain quests yet. Speaking of quests, the main storyline is very well done, with numerous surprises on the way. But if you’re not into the main storyline, there are various side quests you can do for extra cash, reputation, or your “score.” Your “score” is used to determine how you rank up against the other Stalkers. There’s a section in your PDA which shows you your rank and points and gives you the top 20 Stalkers and their points. However, some of the side quests you might find tedious because it requires to travel all across the Zone, and then go back to your original starting place. As I have stated before, the Zone is big, and with no vehicles in it it’s certainly annoying to travel everywhere by foot. Hopefully a mod will fix that soon…anyway, there are various bugs and missing features in this game. One of the most prominent missing features you will find is that YOU CAN’T JOIN ANY FACTIONS! Sure you can befriend factions and make enemies with others, but you can’t ACTUALLY join any factions. How could GSC have forgotten about this, I truly do not know. The bugs, they’re mostly minor, although the game can crash or lock up sometimes. There are also various AI bugs that make the AI look as dumb as hell, this happens especially in close quarter combat, but if you’re fighting in a vast open area, they won’t be buggy much. But Vista users beware: Stalker has no official support for Windows Vista yet. GSC is working to fix that in a patch soon, but as of right now there’s no Vista support. (Which in turn implies there is no DX10)

Overall: 8.25

VERY good game. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes first person shooters, and even those that don’t, you might find some aspect of this game that you’ll like. But one word of advice: You might want to wait until they release a patch first.
